Confirmed: Demi Vollering signs for FDJ-SUEZ 🇳🇱 🇫🇷
French team land their Grand Tour leader for the next two seasons
Demi Vollering has joined FDJ-SUEZ for the start of the 2025 season.
Although the team has not announced the deal's duration, we understand the former Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift winner has penned a two-year contract for 2025 and 2026.
In the spring we broke the news that Vollering would leave SD Worx-Protime at the end of the current season. Talks took place with Lidl-Trek and UAE Team Emirates but by the end of the Spring Classics, it became obvious that Vollering was heading to Stephen Delcourt’s French squad.
“From the very first meeting with the FDJ-SUEZ team, I immediately had a good feeling. I couldn't get the smile off my face. I'm happy to be embarking on this adventure, to experience something new and to rediscover myself in this team. I've always liked the collective fighting spirit of FDJ-SUEZ and its attacking mentality during races. We're going to have a great team and I'm convinced that great things await us,” Vollering said in a statement sent out by her future team.
Although Vollering was incredibly consistent during the spring she had to wait until the Vuelta España Femenina before she took her first victories of the season. She claimed a stage and the overall in Spain and then won the Itzulia Women, the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas and the Tour de Suisse Women.
During the summer the 27-year-old looked on course to defend her Tour de France title after winning the individual time trial and moving into the yellow jersey. However, a crash on stage 5 ended with her losing the jersey and she would have to settle for second place behind Kasia Niewiadoma.
Despite that setback, Vollering is still regarded as the most complete rider in the women’s peloton and will almost certainly be a favourite at every race she starts in 2025.
Her arrival at FDJ-SUEZ also closes out the team’s transfer activity for the season and Vollering will link up with fellow new recruits Elise Chabbey, Juliette Labous, and current team leader Évita Muzic at the team’s next training camp.
At the same time, the team has lost several established stars, including Grace Brown to retirement, Marta Cavalli to dsm, and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig to Canyon-SRAM.
"This is a great day and a new step for the team. Demi is an immense champion and we can't wait to work on her development and see her compete in the team's blue white and red jersey. With our sponsors, FDJ and SUEZ, as well as our historical partners, we have been working for several years to build a competitive world team on a healthy and stable foundation. Let's ride,” said team boss Delcourt.
