Steve Cummings’ move to Jayco AlUla was one of the best-kept secrets of this off-season.

Only a handful of people knew about the news until it was announced on Monday morning and up until that point the best bet on the DS’s future had been a switch to Movistar.

It’s true. He had been in contact with the Spanish team regarding a role for next season. However, sources told us those talks faltered, and then on Monday Jayco fired up their social media accounts and confirmed the arrival of Ineos Grenadiers’ former director of racing.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the story. Such as why Cummings was benched by Ineos ahead of the Tour de France and why a director of his calibre, who had overseen decent results despite an underwhelming roster, had been discarded so publicly and with so little explanation.
