Baptiste Planckaert was on the cusp of retirement at the end of 2024.

The 36-year-old was contemplating a new chapter in his life after almost two decades in elite sport, but when Van Rysel Roubaix, a Continental team that Planckaert raced for back in 2010, offered him one last season in the pro ranks, the 36-year-old jumped at the chance.

Planckaert, who had spent the last four years at Intermarché - Wanty in the WorldTour, had no problem dropping down two divisions and into the Continental ranks. In fact, it was part of the attraction.
