🚨 Confirmed: dsm-firmenich PostNL sign Marta Cavalli
Italian makes the move on a three-year contract from FDJ-SUEZ
As we first reported in the summer, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL have signed Marta Cavalli from FDJ-SUEZ.
The Italian has moved on a three-year contract and will race for her new squad until at least the end of 2027.
The 27-year-old has endured a difficult season due to injuries and only managed five racing days in total. However, when fit, and on form, she is one of the best riders in the Women’s WorldTour with success in both one-day races and Grand Tours.

“I really enjoyed my time at FDJ-Suez but after four years I wanted a change and a chance to meet new people and experience new things,” Cavalli said in a press release
“That gives me a lot of motivation to continue to make steps and I think there are opportunities to do that with Team dsm-firmenich PostNL. From our first talks the team has really trusted in me and believes that I can get back to where I was as a rider, and that was something important to me. There are a lot of people within the team who can help me grow as a rider and person. I’ve been a bit unlucky the past few years, so this is a good chance to restart and my goal is to come back to the highest level possible at Team dsm-firmenich PostNL.”
Cavalli joined the pro ranks back in 2017 as part of Valcar PBM. She became the Italian national road champion a year later.
In 2021 she moved to FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope and her career began to really take off with a series of major wins and results, including sixth in the Giro and fourth in the Vuelta.
The following year Cavalli reached new heights, winning Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne Féminine, and second overall in the Giro.
2023 brought even more success with overall wins at the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche and 2ndCIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées.
This season has been a struggle for the Italian rider. She had a hip injury over the winter that disrupted the start of her campaign and she was forced to postpone her 2024 debut until March. A top ten in La Flèche Wallonne Féminine followed soon after but another pause in racing was forced upon her before the Vuelta. Then in July, Cavalli was hit by a car while training and her season effectively ended.
Despite a year of setbacks, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL are confident that Cavalli can recapture her best form in 2025.
It will be a vital partnership for next year, with the team hoping that Cavalli can deliver in stage races and one-day events, especially with Juliette Labous moving in the opposite direction and heading to FDJ-SUEZ.
“Marta is physically a very talented bike rider, and she has taken some incredible wins at the highest level of the sport. She’s not only just a pure climber as she also has a good engine and has fought for top results in some of the hardest cobbled classics out there,” said head coach Rudi Kemna.
“Of course, she has had a lot of misfortune in recent years which has been tough on her, but she is a really determined character who has shown tenacity to fight back to where she is now, and she always wants to give her all. We believe that we have a good support network within the team that can help her to regain her confidence even more; and with our experts and coaches that together we can compete for results in the biggest races.”
