A long-term deal for the Jayco AlUla rider awaits as he links up with Tom Pidcock

The word at the Giro d’Italia this morning is that Mauro Schmid is leaving Team Jayco AlUla at the end of the season, having signed a major deal with Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling for the next three seasons.

Sources have repeatedly told us all spring that Jayco AlUla were keen to retain the Swiss rider, but that Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling came in with an offer of around 2 million euros a year.

The Australian team were able to put together a competitive package to try to retain Schmid, but not at the level of Ivan Glasenberg’s team, which has now taken Eddie Dunbar, Chris Harper and Schmid from Jayco AlUla in the last twelve months.
