We start with Netcompany Ineos. As we’ve already reported, they’re bringing back Jhonatan Narváez for next year, and Egan Bernal is expected to sign a long-term deal with the team. Harold Tejada is also coming over from XDS Astana.
Meanwhile, Ben Turner has been very, very strongly linked with Soudal Quick-Step, and part of Dave Brailsford’s focus over the last few months has been on renewing contracts for several current riders on the team.
Brailsford’s return to the squad last year halted several potential moves, but with almost a year back in the running, he has far more insight into what the team needs in order to regain their footing as a Tour de France contender.
Jhonatan Narváez is part of that puzzle, but Connor Swift, Magnus Sheffield, Laurens De Plus, AJ August and a handful of other riders are still out of contract for next year.
Strong sources at the Giro d’Italia have informed us that AJ August is set to extend his deal with the British/Danish team on a long-term contract, but the pen might not yet have been put to paper at this point. The American drew interest from Soudal Quick-Step, Visma-Lease a Bike, and EF Education-EasyPost, all of whom were in the mix to varying degrees.
