Derek Gee vs Israel-Premier Tech: Looking at the short and long-term ramifications 👨⚖️
The UCI Arbitral Board will decide if the rider had 'just cause' to break his contract, but the saga might not end there
So, what’s the next step in the dispute between Derek Gee and Israel-Premier Tech, the team from which the rider is trying to disentangle himself over what he is quoted as stating are “serious concerns related to racing for the team, both from a safety and personal-belief standpoint that weighed heavily on my conscience”?
It is understood that Israel-Premier Tech and Gee are heading to the UCI Arbitral Board. From what we understand, the team and Gee must submit their evidence by today, 13th October, if they have not already done so.
From that point, the UCI Arbitral Board (UAB) will convene, but this may not be the final step, as any decision they reach could be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, any appeal must be filed within 21 days of the initial ruling.
