There’s no official confirmation at this point, but we understand that Dylan van Baarle will leave Visma-Lease a Bike at the end of the current season.

The former Paris-Roubaix winner joined the team on a three-year contract at the start of 2023. At 32, Van Baarle is far from a spent force, but the last 18 months have seen the rider plagued by injuries and bad luck.

He won his first race in Visma-Lease a Bike colours at the start of 2023, winning in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. However, a few weeks later, he crashed during the E3 Saxo Classic and saw the rest of his spring go up in smoke.

Van Baarle returned to win the Dutch national championships a few months later and competed in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España later in the season, both of which were won by Visma riders.

The 2024 season followed a similar pattern, with crashes and illnesses wrecking his Spring Classics. Van Baarle was also forced out of the Dauphiné and Vuelta a España, and raced just 20 days.
