🚨 Everything we know about Team Jayco AlUla in 2026 🇦🇺
All the likely ins and outs, including updates on Matthews, Welsford, Dunbar, Groenewegen, Covi and Wiggins
Hi Subscribers,
I’m going to try to write a few of these transfer/team stories over the next fortnight. The transfer market slowed towards the end of May, but post-Giro, it’s firing back up, and the next couple of weeks are going to be incredibly busy in the lead-up to the Tour de France.
You can follow the cycling transfer market with me by subscribing to my Substack. You’ll receive daily news, interviews, and analysis, like this story that goes into detail on the men’s Jayco-AlUla squad and their transfer targets.
Thanks

The official transfer window won’t open for several weeks, but that doesn’t mean we can’t begin placing a few highly probable moves and accurate placeholders concerning transfers and contract extensions.
We’ve reported several transfer stories regarding Jayco AlUla over the last few months, but at the very beginning of the season, the team had around a dozen positions to fill for 2026. Some of these could result in contract extensions. For instance, we have already revealed that Michael Matthews will stay with the team beyond 2025. It’s unclear whether the deal will be for one or two seasons, but the 34-year-old is poised to finish his career with the team.
The most significant area of the squad that needed rebuilding for 2026 was the team’s sprint department. Although not a pure sprinter, Matthews certainly has a fast finish and can secure podiums and wins in several types of races, including reduced bunch sprints. However, with Caleb Ewan jettisoned over the winter and Dylan Groenewegen also out of contract, the team had several key decisions to make.
Rider transfers: Rider Cycling Transfers 2025/2026
From our understanding, their key priority in the transfer market has been focused on sprinters, and it now seems highly likely that Dylan Groenewegen will depart. Reports suggest he has received offers from two other teams, but we understand that discussions between the Dutch rider and his current squad have slowed dramatically in recent weeks, with Jayco management fully expecting the sprinter to leave at the end of the year. This would free up approximately €1.2-1.5 million in budget and allow Jayco to search for a replacement.
