Hi subscribers,

We have lots to get through after the final stage at the Tour of the Alps, including content on the final battle in the mountains, and a story about a day in the Jayco AlUla car.

But we also have a 3-4 hour transfer to Verona that starts in about 30 minutes, so I wanted to share this story on Finlay Pickering before setting off, as he just sealed the KOM jersey after spending a whopping 300+ kilometers in breaks and attacking three days out of five. He also crashed on stage 3, so itโ€™s certainly been an eventful race for the young Brit.

Hereโ€™s the story. I hope you enjoy it. Once we hit Verona, Iโ€™ll be back later with more.

P.S a big thanks to Jayco for letting me tag along in the car today. It was a great experience. My life flashed before my eyes a few times on the descents, but wow, it was an incredible day. These ridersโ€™ bike skills are just phenomenal.

Finlay Pickering sealed the King of the Mountains jersey at the Tour of the Alps on Friday, but he had to do it the hard way, going in three breakaways during the five-day race, surviving a crash, and spending a total of 310km off the front of the race. He earned that blue jersey.

For the young second-year pro, this was a momentous breakthrough in his career and a stepping stone for what could come in the future.

The 22-year-old attacked on stage 1 to San Lorenzo Dorsino, slipping into a three-rider group that would lay the initial foundations for his mountains jersey bid. He picked up a handful of points on stage 2 before gaining another 10 on the road to Innichen during stage 3.

However, that stage ended in near-disaster for the Bahrain-Victorious rider as he went from leading the race as part of a break to finishing over 24 minutes down after a crash on the final descent. He finished the stage but was taken to an ambulance, where he was put through a standard concussion protocol.
