Hi Subscribers,

Jakob Fuglsang turned pro back in 2009. He’s enjoyed a hugely successful career, winning week-long stage races, Monuments and helping teammates win the Tour de France. He was initially set to retire at the end of last season, but after careful consideration, he signed a one-year contract extension with Isreal-Premier Tech.

We caught up with the Dane at his team’s winter training camp to talk about his plans for 2025 and how his role has changed for this season.

Jakob Fuglsang has no intention of simply picking up a paycheck and cruising around in the bunch for the next 12 months.

The former Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Il Lombardia winner will turn 40 this March and had initially planned to retire at the end of 2024, but after a solid end to last season, he was persuaded to stretch out his WorldTour career for a 17th year and final year. He’ll hang up his wheels at the end of 2025 but believes that he still has plenty in the tank.

“It’s good to know that it’s probably my last one. The guys around me keep telling me that it can’t be my last training camp, but honestly, it will normally be my final camp,” Fuglsang told us as we caught up during Israel-Premier Tech’s winter camp.
