Tour de Muhr 1997
For sure, my very first race back in 1997 has to be on this list. Most of my current teammates, maybe not all, weren’t even born when I did my first race as a nine-year-old child. That race gave me my first dream to become a cyclist, not even a pro, but just a cyclist who could race and try to win.
At the time, my father was a cyclist. He wasn’t a racer, but he was doing club rides back home in Germany, and one day, he came to me because there was a criterium a few towns away. He asked me if I would be interested in doing it, but before that point, I’d never even been on a road bike. But a friend of ours had a bike shop, meaning we could borrow a small road bike.
