The UCI Road World Championships in Zurich kick off on Sunday with the elite time trials, and Great Britain has medal contenders for both the men’s and women’s events.

Olympic medalist Anna Henderson competes in the women’s  29.9km event, while Josh Tarling headlines the men’s programme over the same course.

Tarling, 20 suffered a puncture in the men’s Olympic time trial in Paris, missing out on a medal as a result, and after crashing out of his Grand Tour debut at the Vuelta a España the young talent is aiming to reverse his fortunes and close out the season on a high.

The former European time trial champion is a genuine contender for a medal in Switzerland, and sports director Matt Brammeier believes that the Ineos Grenadiers rider can bounce back from the bad luck and adversity he’s suffered in the last couple of months.
