We’re still awaiting an official confirmation from the team but we understand that Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe have signed Maxim Van Gils.

The 25-year-old Belgian tore up his contract with Lotto Dstny last week despite having two years left on the deal and Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Astana, Ineos Grenadiers and Movistar were all linked to the rider.

On Monday we received confirmation that Anton Kuzmin would remain with Astana for 2025, bringing their roster to 30 riders, and therefore meaning that a move for Van Gils was unlikely. The team has since moved other athletes to their devo squad but Van Gils will not be replacing them. Ineos have space after seeing Tom Pidcock depart but have also missed out on Van Gils.

Ineos Grenadiers and certainly Movistar always seemed like a stretch, with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe the most likely destination for the rider.
