For some, the season starts at Tour Down Under; for others, it’s Opening Weekend, but for the rest of us, the 2025 campaign doesn’t really begin until Kasia Niewiadoma and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig race together in CANYON//SRAM colours for the first-ever time.

Luckily, that scenario will play out on Thursday when the pair make their 2025 debuts at Setmana Ciclista Valenciana - Vuelta Comunitat, in Spain. For Niewiadoma, it’s the first stepping stone towards her Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift title defence, while for Uttrup Ludwig, it’s her inaugural outing in CANYON//SRAM colours after her off-season transfer from FDJ-SUEZ.

On Tuesday, after a five-hour drive from Girona to Valencia, alongside teammate Anastasiya Kolesava and sports director Adam Szabó, we caught up with the DS about the team’s aims at Valenciana, as well as Niewiadoma’s and Uttrup Ludwig’s race programmes until the end of the Tour.

“We’ve had a good discussion, and both of them are really keen to see how this race uncovers some of the strengths and what we can see in the early season,” Szabó told us after the lengthy transfer.
