Patient progression awaits Lorenzo Finn
He might be a world champion but the Italian rider and his team aren't in the business of rushing development
Lorenzo Finn enjoyed a sensational end to his 2024 road season with a stunning solo victory in the junior men’s road race at the UCI Road World Championships. Still, the 17-year-old isn’t letting that success go to his head.
The young Italian still has another year of studies to complete before he can fully concentrate on his road career but after signing a two-year deal with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies, the rider has his eyes on a long and prosperous career.
“What I achieved last year has sunk in now and the off-season has gone pretty quickly,” Finn told us as he sat down for a catch-up at Rouleur Live.
“I spent a good few days off the bike and thinking about other stuff, and now I’m back into it,” he added.
The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies squad recently travelled to Austria to mix with the junior and WorldTour riders within the organisation. It was a chance for Finn and his U23 colleagues to bond during the winter, and get used to their updated surroundings. The new U23 squad signed 11 riders in total for 2025 and Finn is the youngest on the roster but age isn’t a limiting factor as the team attempts to develop the Italian at a suitable and pressure-free pace.
