Hi Subscribers,

We are kicking off the week with an exclusive interview with Romain Bardet. The Frenchman is retiring from the WorldTour this year, and we caught up with him at the Team Picnic PostNL training camp to talk about his final race programme and his legacy in the sport.

Coming up later this week, we’ll have interviews with Larry Warbasse, Matteo Trentin, Lars Boom, John Degenkolb, Ben O’Connor, Charlotte Kool and Lara Gillespie.

Also, your subscription support at the December training camps was immense, and it means that we can head back to Spain next week to visit two more teams. More on that in the coming days… 🫶

Just a reminder, for a limited time only, annual subscriptions have ⭐ dropped 20% from £70 to £56 for a year.⭐ You just need to use the coupon in the link here.

The annual subscription will give you complete access to every story I write in 2025, all my breaking news and transfer analysis, as well as the complete archive of content I’ve written since our launch last June (285 stories and counting).

Click on the link to enjoy a 20% discount for an annual subscription to my Substack. The offer ends soon! 🫶

In just over six months, Romain Bardet will call time on his career in the WorldTour.

After 14 years and a place in the history books as one of the peloton's most accomplished and well-respected riders, the Frenchman will end one chapter of his life and begin another.

At the Team Picnic PostNL training camp in Calpe, Spain, the 34-year-old was in a relaxed mood. He and his teammates had spent six hours in the saddle, testing their new Lapierre bikes and putting in the miles before the 2025 campaign.

For Bardet, that will officially start at the Volta ao Algarve in February before a whistle-stop tour of French races, followed by either Paris-Nice or Tirreno, the Tour of the Alps, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, and the Giro d’Italia. The Frenchman’s final race on the road will be the Critérium du Dauhpiné in June before he puts away his road machine, takes a well-earned break, and then embarks on a more balanced lifestyle of gravel racing and family endeavours.
