Stefan Küng: Whichever colours I’m wearing next year, I’m going to be in a good place 🇨🇭
Several teams are linked to the Swiss rider as he looks to make a decision about his future soon
Hi Subscribers,
I’m home from my trip to Belgium and have tonnes of content banked for the next few days, including a behind-the-scenes look at junior scouting by WorldTour teams, Mathew Hayman on the teams he could have signed for during his career, and Richard Plugge on Visma-Lease a Bike’s transfer and contract situations with existing riders on the roster.
There’s also an interview with Movistar’s Sebastian Unzue on the women’s team and their Grand Tour plans, as well as an interview with former athlete and now rider agent Annette Edmondson. I still have the exclusive with legendary photographer Graham Watson to write up, and there will be coverage from this weekend’s Tour of Flanders. There’s a lot going on!
Our second story for today is a short interview with one of the most respected riders in the bunch, Stefan Küng. We talked about the Classics and his future because he’s out of contract at the end of the season, and several teams are interested.

Stefan Küng is among the top all-rounders and Classics specialists available during this season's transfer market, and the Groupama-FDJ rider is poised to decide on his future soon, with several teams eager to sign him.
On Wednesday, Küng delivered one of his typically resilient and gutsy performances, finishing ninth in Dwars door Vlaanderen. This result followed a strong sixth place in E3 Saxo Classic. Speaking before Dwars door Vlaanderen, he discussed his form as he approached the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.
“I was a little bit insecure after Paris-Nice as I was sick, but I had a good race last Friday, and I’m way more confident now and ready to go for it. Each day is an opportunity, and today, Mathieu and Tadej are not here; otherwise, it looks like the start list for the Tour of Flanders. If I have to choose, though, I’d rather be 100 per cent on Sunday for Flanders and then again a week later at Paris-Roubaix,” he said.
Tadej Pogačar and Mathieu van der Poel will start as the overwhelming favourites in the Tour of Flanders. Gent-Wevelgem winner Mads Pedersen is a step below those two, while Küng is part of another group of contenders who could reach the podium if the stars align.
