🚨Transfer mechanics: 99% chance Küng signs for Tudor, Molano in talks with Movistar and Intermarché
Vacek’s future is sorted, Stuyven on the move, as speculation mounts over possible Ineos Grenadiers U23 team
Hi Subscribers,
There’s a fair amount to cover today in the transfer market, but we’ll start with the headliners and then look ahead to what could happen in the coming weeks.
Before we talk transfers, we’ve launched a sale on annual subscriptions to coincide with the Giro d’Italia. For a limited time only, ✨ it’s 20% off a yearly pass ✨ to my Substack. For roughly £1 per week, you get all my stories, the entire vault of content (480 stories), and the flurry of transfer news and exclusives I’ll have over the coming weeks.
Okay, let’s talk transfers.
First up, Stefan Küng. The Groupama-FDJ rider has been hinting at a move all Spring, and although we don’t have an official confirmation - and won’t get one until August 1 - you can safely assume that the Swiss rider will be racing in Tudor colours next season. We’re hearing the deal is 99% there, with a contract covering at least two years.
That’s quite the Classics armoury for Fabian Cancellara’s squad, with Küng set to join a team that already includes Julian Alaphilippe, Matteo Trentin and Marc Hirschi. The move also puts Küng back on a BMC bike for the first time since 2018.
Sticking with Classics-related transfer news, Mathias Vacek has signed a two-year extension with Lidl-Trek. The 22-year-old was on the radar of several teams, but the American squad have handed their young rider another set of terms that will tie him to the team until the end of 2027. The team has not confirmed the situation, but it is concrete according to our information.
