On Saturday Patrick Lefevere confirmed that Julian Alaphilippe would be leaving Soudal Quick-Step at the end of the year. The announcement brought down the curtain on a relationship going back over a decade and for the first time in his career, Alaphilippe will race for a new team in 2025.

Exactly which team remains unclear. There were reports on Sunday that a deal with Tudor Pro Cycling would be announced in the next two days but we understand that the timelines are a little way off such imminent news, while the Frenchman has confirmed he knows his next team but hasn’t yet officially signed the paperwork. In this transfer mechanics story, we look at the most likely destinations for the 32-year-old.
