United States head into Worlds road races with confidence high and cards to play 🌈
From the juniors to the elites, the US team will be hunting more medal success from Thursday
The UCI Road World Championships change gears on Thursday with time trial bikes packed away and road bikes prepped and primed for a series of mouthwatering races in Zurich.
At 10am CET, the junior women hit the 76.3km course, with the junior men following suit a few hours later over a 127.2km parcours.
At the USA camp in Zurich, the mood is upbeat. The team claimed a bronze medal through Chloe Dygert in the elite women’s time trial on the opening weekend of the championships, and despite not picking up a second podium place in the last few days, the depth of talent within the squad means that hopes are high for the road races.
“We have talented and really eager junior riders for Thursday’s road races, a solid U23 men’s team and then the men’s and women’s elite teams are probably the strongest squads we’ve ever had for the final two road races at the Worlds,” lead sports director Mike Creed told us on Wednesday evening.
