The Frenchman's career has been ravaged by illness and injury over the last two years and he's 'happy to stop' and find a life outside of cycling

Two years ago, Victory Lafay was riding high after winning a memorable stage of the Tour de France. Several of the world's top teams were vying for his signature before he signed a lucrative yet well-deserved two-year deal with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team. The future looked promising for the Frenchman.
Fast forward to September 2025, and Lafay, now 29, is willing to call him on his career. A final decision on his future will be made in the coming weeks, but right now the rider has no renewal on the table from his current team after two consecutive seasons ravaged by illness and persistent knee trouble. In total, heβs just just 60 days in the last two years.

At the Tour of Britain Men, we caught up with Lafay at the start of stage 4 to talk about his struggles before he dropped the potential retirement bomb.
