What next for the top 10 in the junior men's TT at Worlds? 🌈
We look at where the stars of the future are going next after their performances in Zurich
Hey Subscribers,
After Grace Brown and Remco Evenepoel stole the show in Sunday’s elite time trials at Worlds, it was the turn of the junior men to step up on Monday morning and they delivered with Paul Seixas winning for France, and Jasper Schoofs and Matisse Van Kerckhove rounding out the podium for Belgium.
Although writing about riders born in 2006 makes me feel incredibly old it’s still an exciting time for junior racing right now, with some incredible talent coming through the ranks. We’ve taken a look at the top ten from today’s results in Zurich and detailed where each rider is going in the coming years.
Paul Seixas 🇫🇷
Current team: Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale U19 Team
Future team: Decathlon AG2R La MondialeÂ
We’ve highlighted Seixas several times over the last three months due to his growing stature in the sport and incredible palmares in 2024. Currently on the books at Decathlon’s U19 project, he’s set to jump into the WorldTour next year after agreeing a three-year deal with the French squad.Â
Seixas has it all for an up-and-coming 17-year-old talent. He can climb, as shown by his impeccable GC results this year in France and Italy, while his race craft and one-day skillset have seen him pick up a junior Liege-Bastogne-Liege crown and a double national title against the clock and in the road race. An automatic favourite for the junior road race later this week, he’s a world-class pick-up for Decathlon and a demonstration of their commitment to finding and developing youth. One always needs to be mindful of pigeon-holing riders at a young age, but Seixas’ post-race interviews underline his maturity and level-headed attitude.
