Tadej Pogačar rode himself into the history books last weekend, winning the rainbow jersey and becoming just the third male rider to take the triple crown in a single season.

A Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, world title, and not to mention 12 Grand Tour stage wins along the way, are incomparable to anything we’ve seen in modern-day cycling, and despite Eddy Merckx's undecided or clarified view on the subject, no one could argue with the outrageousness of Pogačar’s astonishing season.

However, not soon after his 100km winning break at Worlds the conversation turned to ‘what next?’ Someone made a graph of what the Slovenian hadn’t won - it didn’t take long - and then column inches and social media speculated as to what the 26-year-old should, could, and would target next.

It should be pointed out that he’s not even finished for this season, with the Giro dell'Emilia, Tre Valli Varesine, and the chance of a fourth title-winning ride at Il Lombardia later in the month. No doubt ASO has already been on the blower with a gold ticket invitation to their criterium series in the winter.
