What does abandoning the Tour de France mean for Primož Roglič, his team, and the race?
Red Bull have lost their leader and must focus on rescuing their race with a stage win
Another crash, another Tour de France departure for Primož Roglič, and perhaps the final nail in the coffin for his dream of winning the only Grand Tour missing from his glorious palmares.
On the start line in Agen on Friday morning a deflated Rolf Aldag addressed the assembled media to affirm the news that was already out there - that after consecutive crashes on stages 11 and 12 - and heavy time losses - Roglič would be leaving the race owing to the injuries he sustained.
"We as a team feel super sorry for him. He said goodbye to the team on the team bus this morning. He wished everybody luck and thanked everybody for their support, both riders and staff,” Aldag told Cyclingnews and the rest of the media before stating that the Red Bull leader had no fractures or a concussion but that his body and bones were too beaten and bruised to continue in the race.
